Meet Colin – Our New Salon Director at JUSTB and Check Out His Summer Trends
We’re so excited to introduce the newest member of the JUSTB Salon team—Colin McEwan, our new Salon Director and Senior Stylist! Friendly, down-to-earth, and incredibly talented, Colin brings years of experience and a fresh, trend-savvy perspective to our salon floor.
From the moment you sit in his chair, you’ll feel like you’re catching up with an old friend—who just happens to be amazing with hair.
Colin’s Take on Summer Hair Trends
Colin’s keeping it cool and effortless this summer when it comes to style.
For short hair, he’s seeing a shift away from super-faded cuts toward tapers and blowout styles—think softer, more natural finishes that still look sharp. “A lot of younger clients are asking for that blowout taper—it’s really having a moment,” Colin shares. And one thing he won’t be missing? “The mullet. I'm done with it,” he laughs.
For long hair, Colin is loving bold shapes with natural texture. The wolf cut—perfect for thick hair and big movement—is still going strong. And the French bob? “It’s back and better than ever,” he says. “It’s one of those haircuts that just works—it can be sleek or lived-in, and it always looks effortlessly chic.”
Outside the Salon
When he’s not working his magic behind the chair, Colin’s all about spending quality time with his 8-year-old son. The two are inseparable, often heading out for bike rides, exploring local parks, or pitching a tent for a weekend of camping. “We love being outdoors—whether it’s a trail, a ball game, or just hanging by the lake,” Colin says.
He's also a big fan of his east-end neighbourhood. You’ll often catch him at:
● The Nose – one of his go-to restaurants
● Leslieville Market – perfect for a relaxed weekend morning
● Queen Street Eats & Riverside – where food and community meet
● And this July, he’s especially looking forward to the Beaches International Jazz Festival: “There’s nothing better than live music in the summer. Jazz, blues, world music—it’s such a vibe, and it brings the whole east end to life.”
Whether you’re looking for a major hair refresh or just some good conversation and a clean-up, Colin’s the kind of stylist who makes you feel seen, heard, and totally at ease.
